MVGIE Studios (pronounced moo-ghee) is a UK-based indie studio making story-driven games with unusual game mechanics. Our games focus on diegetic design, immersion, and emotional authenticity.

We are currently developing our first title, Stand Up. Alongside it we publish a blog: a mix of DevLogs for Stand Up, lessons we learnt in our game development careers, insights about running a game studio, and occasional ramblings from three stressed devs.

Meet the studio

A small studio,
in good company.

We are not the loudest part of the indie scene — by design. We make a small number of careful things, and try to be useful to the people coming up behind us.

  1. 01

    Follow the North Star

“Telling meaningful stories in unconventional ways” is our North Star: every creative decision we make is guided by it. We strive for authenticity and immersion. We want players to lose themselves in the characters they embody. And we push our designs to discover new ways (through mechanics, systems, and audio cues) for players to engage with videogames as a medium.

  2. 02

    Be transparent

With ourselves, with each other, and with our players. The first two guide how we approach development and business decisions internally. The latter means communicating clearly and honestly with our community so expectations are always understood and met. We also believe in sharing the realities of our journey, which is why we started the blog in the first place.

  3. 03

    Grow sustainably

Our long-term vision is to improve and grow as a business while maintaining a healthy, sustainable pace. By staying financially responsible and expanding thoughtfully, we can create stability, continue making great work in a positive environment, and attract talented people who want to be part of our journey for years to come.

  4. 04

    Be part of a community

One of our core goals is to celebrate new voices in the industry and contribute positively to the game development community. Whether through sharing knowledge, supporting fellow developers, or creating opportunities for others, we want to be a meaningful source of support and collaboration.
